LAHORE: Lahore Mayor Col (r) Mubashir Javed has said that professional and organised beggars are a ‘cancer’ and a stigma on the face of society.
While reviewing the performance report of metropolitan teams, deputed for taking action against beggars, begging on the main roads of the city here on Saturday, The mayor said that taking action against them is among the topmost priorities of the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore.
He further said that it is the need of the hour to trace out all such people. He revealed as many as 15 female and 6 male professional beggars had been captured from Mall road, Lakashmi Chowk, Canal Road and others on the first day of crackdown and the arrested were sent to Edhi Centre Raiwind.
He also appealed to the citizens to not help out professional beggars.
